12 Cadets from 51 (Orton) Air Cadet Squadron had the great honour of joining JROTC cadets and the 501st Combat Support Wing at RAF Alconbury for the Retreat Parade. The parade organised by the station was in the honour of the Lord Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire Sir Hugh Duberly KCVO, CBE to mark the start of his final year in his current position before his retirement.
The Parade was attended various dignitaries including an RAF Wing Commander, Group Captain and various USAF personnel along with two Deputy Lord Lieutenants.
Flight Lieutenant Andrew Mason, said “I could not be prouder of these cadets. Once again they have done not just themselves proud, but also the squadron and my-self. It is always nice to have positive feedback, but when it comes from such dignitaries it is truly a remarkable achievement”.
Each of the cadets adjusted their drill and banner skills to align with the JROTC cadets. FS Kieran Robinett and Cpl Lucy Williamson represented the squadron by being part of the Colour Party and also the representation of our own squadron banner.
