Remembrance Sunday 2011

28 members of 51 (Orton) Squadron joined, the Peterborough Remembrance Parade on Sunday, along with more than 1600 other people to remember those who have paid the ultimate price. Sergeant James Cooper along with Corporal Lauren White and Corporal Natalie Clampin merged with the banner party to carry the Squadron’s banner; this was a first for all the members and one which each cadet was proud to have been given.

The service, which was taken by the Bishop of Peterborough, Donald Allister at The Peterborough Cathedral was heartfelt. There were readings from an Army Veteran and an Army Cadet.

The service was followed by the laying of wreaths at the memorial. Sergeant Brooke said “I was honoured to lead the Squadron and to lay a wreath on behalf of 51 (Orton), it was my first attendance as Staff even though I have attended many remembrance parades as a cadet”.

The final procession was lead down Bridge Street, where the Major took the salute from a dais, positioned in front of the Town Hall, to a final inspection before dismissal.  Each cadet once again was touched by the service and parade and marks yet another prominent event in the Air Cadets Calendar.
